Athandiwe Saba

Athandiwe Saba is an award-winning investigative journalist, editor and strategist with extensive experience leading complex, cross-border investigations across Africa. She previously led Africa’s largest open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigative team at Code for Africa, overseeing investigations into coordinated influence campaigns, extremist networks and information manipulation. Earlier, she established South Africa’s first dedicated data journalism desk at the Mail & Guardian. Her work combines traditional investigative reporting with data, OSINT and AI-assisted methodologies to uncover networks of power and influence. She currently works with pan-African media start-up All Protocol Observed, where her focus includes investigative journalism, information integrity, AI and strengthening democratic resilience across Africa.
