This article was a collaboration between grassroots social justice defenders, Antony Adoyo, Jackob Omondi, Juliet Wanjira (UhaiWetu ~ the research team of the Social Justice Centers Working Group) and Naomi van Stapele (International Institute of Social Studies [ISS], The Netherlands)

The SJCWG group is a coalition of grassroots justice centers based within Nairobi’s informal settlements. This coalition addresses human rights violations and fights for justice by building community solidarity and contesting the normalization of state violence within these settlements.
