Katiba Yetu @14: We The People Shall!
August is the constitutional month in Kenya emblemized by the August 2010 referendum in which Kenyans went to the polls to pass the draft. An overwhelming majority voted in favour at 67% success rate. Subsequently the draft was promulgated on the 27th of August 2010 to the adulation and promise of hope for Kenyans. It is now 14 years later and the constitution has been implemented to a significant degree but certain parts, such as the 2/3 gender rule, remain non-adhered to. In this August as a Constitution editorial month, we return to every year to celebrate, recall, examine, and amplify many facets of the constitutional culture, principles, rules, and processes.
