On Tuesday, 10th June 2025, dozens of Kenyan citizens staged protests in various parts of the capital, Nairobi, following the death of a 31-year-old man in police custody. Mr. Albert Omondi Ojwang, a teacher and rugby coach, was arrested by a team of police officers at his parents’ home in Homa Bay County and transported over 300 kilometres to Nairobi Central Police Station. The circumstances surrounding his arrest and subsequent death are now under serious scrutiny to establish the facts. His arrest followed a complaint filed by Deputy Police Chief Eliud Lagat.
