On December 10th 2024, women and men from all walks of life gathered at Jevanjee Gardens in Nairobi and a few other counties to raise awareness about the rising cases of femicide in the country. They met in solidarity under the banner of the #TotalShutDown and #EndFemicideKE. Their presence was met with heavy police presence and arrests. Still, the march has generated awareness and advocated publicly for heightened action and a more urgent coordinated response from the Kenyan government and other actors in the society. Our photographer Jimmy Kitiro captured the moments of the day.
